Jsk Studios Overthrow The Demon 18
for anyone who feels let down by the ending..the author had wanted the main villian not to be defeated and he was going to continue spreading his evil influence and manipulating people. in the final chapter of the story, the main villain confronts the players and proceeds to say that he has a grand plan which will surpass his previous plans in scope. i personally would have liked a conclusion that showed him at his true power level.
thanks to harper’s this week the kids can get their hands on this book and find out more about it. a little bit about srdja and tina, a little bit about the book, a little bit about that tape, a little bit about the falling snow of old news media to the black fall of pirate radio and the beginnings of rebellion in serbia. there’s even a healthy dose of historical mention, from saxon to the magna carta.
when i was a grad student at nyu in the early nineties, i took an evening class with daniel berrigan. we were going to study how the catholic church in this country used the language of the culture, the language of hollywood to sell the message of the church to the culture and i told him about this tape. it was then a tape that i didn’t know about and didn’t have access to. i thought that this tape was pretty remarkable. he listened to it and he was utterly fascinated by it. he told me that he was going to track down the people who made it and that was the first time i really knew of the existence of this tape. i felt i had become part of a movement. it wasn’t a revelation or anything but it did feel like something historical was happening. it was a bit of history coming to life. someone i was on the same mission and we spoke on the phone about it. he was the editor of ramparts magazine. in the book, in the book is a quote from him, a really memorable quote, which is something that i wanted to share with the listeners. he said to me, “brooke, that tape is the first tape in the history of our time that told us that we are on the brink of a change. it’s not a revolution. it’s not an uprising. it’s the change of what’s happening now. the tape is a perfect revolution that is happening in reverse. i’ve been following the tape from the beginning and i’ve been following the tape in reverse.” we talk about that a little bit.
